PPMD Therapy was founded by Dr Petra Bueskens and offers psychotherapy and counselling to individuals, couples, families and children in Melbourne and Daylesford.



Petra has a Bachelor of Arts with first class honours (Murdoch University), a Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy and Counselling (Ballarat University), and a PhD in Sociology and Gender Studies from the University of Melbourne. She has undertaken two clinical placements: one at Hepburn Health Service in Daylesford in 2005 and one at St John of God Hospital Ballarat, Pomegranate House  in 2008.  She founded PPMD Therapy and has been in private practice since 2009.

Petra is currently a lecturer in Social Science at the Australian College of Applied Psychology (2013-). Between 2002-2009 Petra worked as a Sociology and Gender Studies lecturer at The University of Melbourne and Deakin University, Australia.  Petra has published work from her PhD research in a number of scholarly books and journals.  She is the author of Mothering and Psychoanalysis: Clinical, Sociological and Feminist Perspectives (Demeter Press: Toronto, 2014), and the editor of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Journal of Australia. She is on the editorial boards of The Journal for the Motherhood Initiative and Studies in the Maternal.

Petra is a full clinical member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia. She has professional indemnity insurance, a police check and working with children check.  Her fees are on a sliding scale from $80 to $120 and $100 to $150 for couples. There is no medicare rebate at present.
